The Arab Water Council organized a workshop on December 15-16, 2009 in Cairo to launch its project on "Public Engagement in Water Management". The workshop was attended by participants from Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, Egypt and Morocco, as well as representatives of regional and international organizations, civil society, NGOs and research institutions. The objective of the workshop was to describe the scope, objectives, and project components; and to set plans for project implementation.
Coordinators of other regional initiatives related to improving water governance in the Arab Countries were also invited to brief the participants on their projects and to discuss common objectives and activities and consider areas of cooperation and coordination.
