The World Water Forum convenes every three years since 1997. It mobilizes creativity, innovation, competence and know-how in favor of water. The previous five World Water Forums were organized in Marrakesh, The Hague, Kyoto, Mexico City, and Istanbul respectively. They have placed water on the international political agenda and undoubtedly contributed to a global awareness of the water issues. The 6th World Water Forum will be held in Marseille, France in March 16-22, 2012.
Soon after its creation in 2004, the Arab Water Council participated in the last three forums and contributed actively in its different processes including the coordination of the MENA/Arab countries regional process and preparation of the regional report during the 4th and 5th forums. The AWC will continue playing active role during the 6th World Water Forum. The output of the 2nd Arab Water Forum to be held in Cairo on 20-23 November 2011 will represent a landmark along the way of the regional contribution in the 6th world Water Forum in Marseille.
